A Chicago police officer brightened a homeless man's day at Chipotle

Guacamole is extra, but kindness is free.

Chicago police officer Sergeant B. Hagarty stopped by a Chipotle in the city's Lakeview neighborhood for lunch last week and noticed a homeless man picking through nearby trash bins. Hagarty gestured to the man through the window, asking if he would like something to eat

Rachel Mitchell, who witnessed the exchange and posted it on Facebook, shared what happened next

"The cop told him to set what belongings he had next to him and told him to order what he wanted because he would pay for it," Mitchell wrote. "They stood in line together and at the end the cop paid for the man's meal. A simple hand shake was exchanged between them and they parted ways like it was no big deal." Read more...
