Salman Rushdie talks fiction, fairy tales and 'the problem of an interesting life'

Sometimes the world just needs a hint of magic.

That's the case in Salman Rushdie's new book, the satirical fairytale Two Years Eight Months and Twenty-Eight Nights

"After writing my memoir, I had a great emotional reaction of wanting to swing back to the other end of the spectrum and do something as wildly fictional as my memoir had been carefully factual," says Rushdie.

The result of that yearning is Two Years, a fantastical tale full of devious Jinn (think genies, but waaaayy darker than the Aladdin kind), floating men, lightning curses and supernatural mischief. Read more...
