Thousands of refugees who had been stuck in Hungary for days entered Germany and Austria Saturday, with more expected to arrive Sunday
While images of migrants being met by riot police in Greece, Macedonia, Hungary and elsewhere have flooded airwaves and social media in recent weeks, the story out of Germany and Austria on Saturday was one of acceptance and joy.
Germans lined up at a train station in Munich to welcome incoming migrants with cheers and on the Austrian border, volunteers at a Red Cross station provided toys and food to the crowd. A similar scene played out at Vienna's central train station. Some refugees in Austria continued onto Germany, while others stayed. Read more...
